Pahalgam Attack: India Lacks Evidence Against Pakistan, Reveals New York Times

The American newspaper The New York Times has revealed that India failed to present any evidence against Pakistan during a briefing given to foreign diplomats following the Pahalgam attack. According to the report, four diplomats confirmed that India did not have any proof to substantiate its allegations against Pakistan.
The newspaper stated that India resorted to a “false flag” operation in Pahalgam to divert attention from its internal political pressures and hastily blamed Pakistan. In this effort, the Modi government also reached out to dozens of global leaders.
The report further highlighted that instead of seeking to de-escalate tensions, India appears to be searching for a pretext to justify military action against Pakistan. Even after five days, India has neither held any group responsible for the attack nor presented any evidence to back its accusations against Pakistan.
Additionally, India has moved to downgrade diplomatic ties, expel diplomats, cancel visas, and intensify crackdowns and human rights violations against Kashmiris.
According to The New York Times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is under growing pressure to take military action. However, given Pakistan’s strong responses in 2016 and 2019, any such move is not likely to be an easy decision this time.
